KPK Investigates the Involvement of Members of Commission V of the DPR in the DJKA Bribery Case through Sudewo

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will investigate members of Commission V of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2019-2024 who are suspected of receiving bribes for the construction of a train line project at the Director General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub). The determination of the suspect, Pati Regent Sudewo, will be the gateway.

The determination of the suspect Sudewo in the DJKA bribery case occurred after he was caught in a hand-in-hand operation (OTT) related to extortion of filling village apparatus positions in Pati Regency, Central Java.

Sudewo is a suspect in his capacity as a former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives Commission V for the period 2020-2024.

"Later from this SDW we can also enter, whether there are other roles from other council members in projects in DJKA, whether there are also other allegations of money flows to other members of the Council in Commission V," said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters, Friday, January 23.

The KPK also has the opportunity to summon 19 members of Commission V of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2019-2024 from various factions whose names have appeared in the DJKA case hearing. Among them are Lasarus, Ridwan Bae, Hamka Baco Kady to Sadarestuwati.

However, Budi did not specify when they would be summoned because investigators would focus on examining witnesses to the DJKA case to prove Sudewo's actions.

"The summoning of each witness in the series of investigation processes will certainly be based on the needs of the investigators to be investigated based on information or initial evidence. Including later when entering the trial, of course, the JPU will also conduct an analysis related to the facts that arise in the trial," he said.

"Whether then the facts can become new evidence or additional evidence for the KPK to later develop its investigation, we will see the development later," continued Budi.

As previously reported, the KPK also named Sudewa or Sudewo as the Regent of Pati as a suspect in the case of bribes for the construction and maintenance of railway lines in the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA).

Acting Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, said the determination of the suspect was made after Sudewo was caught in a hand-in-hand operation (OTT) related to extortion of village device filling on Monday, January 19.

"Yes, yes (so two suspects, ed)," Asep told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, January 20.

Asep said that this OTT became the gateway for the anti-corruption commission to name Sudewo as a suspect in the DJKA case. "Today we have also raised it to an investigation. So at once," he said.

Sudewo has already been questioned in the DJKA bribery case on September 22, 2025. He was questioned about the auction arrangement to the alleged provision of project fees for the construction of a train line at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).

Meanwhile, Sudewo, after being examined by investigators, chose to be stingy. The Gerindra Party politician underwent an examination from 09.45 WIB to 15.03 WIB at the KPK Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

"I was asked for information regarding the train," Sudewo told reporters at the location.

Sudewo also claimed that there was no refund after being examined by the KPK. However, this explanation was delivered incompletely because the aides accompanying him actually hindered the work of reporters at the location.
