JAKARTA - The joint SAR team was divided into nine Search and Rescue Unit (SRU) teams on the fourth day of operations to comb the main location of the ATR 42-500 plane crash in the Bulusaraung mountain area, Pangkep Regency, South Sulawesi (South Sulawesi).

"Today, the joint SAR team has again combed the areas where the victim's belongings and aircraft debris were previously found. The combing is carried out gradually and measured in accordance with the operation plan," said Head of the Makassar Basarnas Office, Muhammad Arif Anwar in Makassar, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.

"The distribution of 9 SRU is focused on searching for sectors that have been mapped based on the coordinates of the victim's findings, the victim's belongings, and the aircraft's body after the accident in the local mountain," he continued.

In addition, the team also combed the scene in the steep cliff area of Mount Bulusaraung with an estimated depth of hundreds of meters from the top of the peak.

"SRU 1 to SRU 5 carried out a search in several applications that were the initial finding points. the location of the first victim, aircraft debris and windows, the first engine and the seat ladder," he said.

"Furthermore, the location of the second victim's discovery along with personal belongings, to the wing area and the second engine of the aircraft around the waterfall," he said as the SMC (SAR Mission Coordinator) Coordinator.

For SRU 6, it carried out a follow-up check on the location of the tail of the aircraft, which was about 200 meters deep. For the evacuation process, SRU 7 carried out the transfer of the victim to the rice fields of Kampung Baru, with the evacuation route secured by SRU 8.

From the air sector, SRU 9 carried out a search using helicopter elements from Hasanuddin Air Base to the Bulu Saraung Mountains area to comb all search sectors and strengthen location mapping for the ground team.

"All SRU work based on coordinate data and field findings. Steep terrain and extreme weather are still a challenge, but operations are still carried out by prioritizing personnel safety," said Arif.

The SAR operation involved elements of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), TNI, Polri, local government, BPBD, and other SAR potential. For further developments, said Arif, will be conveyed periodically.

Previously, the ATR 42-500 aircraft belonging to Indonesia Air Transport (IAT) was declared missing in the Bulusaraung mountain area, South Sulawesi, while preparing to land at the Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport on Saturday (17/1/2026) afternoon.

The plane was carrying 10 people, seven crew members, and three POB (Persons on Board) passengers who were the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) on behalf of Ferry Irawan, Deden Mulyana, and Yoga Naufal.

Meanwhile, the crew of seven people, namely the pilot Captain Andi Dahananto, Co-pilot Muhammad Farhan Gunawan, the aircraft crew, namely Hariadi, Restu Adi, Dwi Murdiono, Florencia Lolita, and Esther Aprilita. The team has found a number of aircraft debris and two bodies of victims, but their identities have not been identified.
