DENPASAR - The Bali Health Office (Dinkes) has found two positive cases of Super Flu or influenza A (H3N2) subclade K experienced by patients in Denpasar.
Head of the Prevention and Control of Disease (P2P) of the Bali Health Office I Gusti Ayu Raka Susanti asked the public not to panic because the two cases were experienced by patients in October 2025 who are currently confirmed to have recovered.
"We sent it to the national lab, the problem is that the results are quite long and the results of these two cases were found, we just received that we traced that the patient was treated in October," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 13.
"We have conducted epidemiological investigations, we have called the patient, he has recovered and has returned to his usual activities," said I Gusti Ayu Raka Susanti.
The Bali Health Office stated that the two patients who had tested positive for Super Flu were male, aged 40-45 years, had no history of traveling abroad, and while sick he was treated at Wangaya Hospital as a regional hospital that has sentinel ilisari or treatment for severe influenza.
The two Super Flu patients were also confirmed not to be family members or have a relationship, so when the national laboratory results showed that they were positive, the Bali Health Office immediately carried out surveillance on the surrounding families.
"We have also searched around it, no one complained about the same flu," said Raka Susanti.
Likewise, at the hospital, when October 2025 the two patients were treated, they came with influenza accompanied by shortness of breath or pneumonia so that they were given therapy and placed in isolation rooms.
Raka Susanti said that the slow results of laboratory tests made the local government know about the findings of this case.
With the two positive cases of Super Flu in Bali, the Bali Health Office will strengthen surveillance of symptomatic patients up to the puskesmas level.
He also appealed to the public to continue to practice clean and healthy living behaviors, and if they have symptoms of influenza, use masks and immediately go to the health service facility to get the right treatment.
Throughout 2025, the Bali Health Office has submitted 126 samples suspected of influenza type A to the national reference laboratory and it was confirmed that only two were positive.
The examination of samples continues and this morning alone they received the results of five samples sent in November and were negative.
Raka Susanti emphasized that the most important thing at this time is to increase early alertness even though there is no special status for Super Flu because it is considered that the type of influenza has existed for a long time.
