JAKARTA - Member of Commission I of the DPR RI from the PDIP Faction, Effendi Simbolon, blamed the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) for the leak of personal data of BPJS Health participants.

According to Effendi, BSSN failed to carry out its duty to protect the privacy of public data in government agencies.

"BSSN maintains cyber security. Your task (BSSN) failed. Hundreds of millions of hackers went to the Republic of Indonesia. This (BPJS case) is only one of them," said Effendi in a virtual discussion entitled "Personal Data Protection Emergency", Saturday, 29 May.

According to Effendi, the existence of data leaks cannot be blamed on people who do not maintain their privacy. It is the state that must protect personal data so that it is not misused, through its own security institutions such as BSSN.

"Those are institutions that have been appointed by law, one of which is the BSSN. BSSN has the task of maintaining cyber security, then coordinating it efficiently and effectively, you know. So there are preventive measures, then there are also those who take action, not later like an NGO observer," he explained .

He also considers the data leak to be due to a lack of coordination between ministries and institutions.

"Why is it still considered that we are coordinating, who are we coordinating with? Right at BSSN, all the equipment is given. The trillions are your spending, the Kominfo is the same way," he continued.

For information, the data leak is thought to have come from the Health Social Security Administering Agency (BPJS) website. Based on information circulating, the leaked population data was sold on the online forum 'Raid Forums' by a member under the pseudonym Kotz.

BPJS Kesehatan Managing Director Ali Ghufron Mukti said his party had not been able to report the leak of the 279 million population data sold on the Kotz account on the internet, which were BPJS Health participant data. Currently, the data leak is still in the joint investigation stage.

"So there are offered 1 million data in Indonesia that can be tested, starting from there (Kotz, ed) then on Twitter and then enlivened. So this is busy itself," said Ali Ghufron.

Ghufron said that on Thursday, May 20, BPJS Kesehatan coordinated and formed a team with BSSN. Coordination continued with the board of BPJS Health and the Ministry of Communication and Information and Cyber the Ministry of Defense in order to anticipate further leaks.

"The team secures access points by closing and investigating. BPJS Kesehatan has temporarily suspended all cooperation related to data exchange, then we will see that the Ministry of Communication and Information is also moving quickly to close forum access," he explained.
