JAKARTA - The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the Metro Jaya Police confirmed the request for Restorative Justice (RJ) in handling the case of alleged presidential diploma for the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Director of Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Iman Imanuddin, emphasized that the RJ mechanism is the right of the parties to the case. Meanwhile, investigators are in a neutral position and only facilitate according to applicable laws.

"The choice of Restorative Justice is the choice of the parties. We as investigators are in a neutral position. The legal efforts taken are entirely the right of the parties themselves," Iman told reporters at the Polda Metro Jaya, Monday, January 12, 2026.

He explained that both the Criminal Code (KUHP) and the Code of Criminal Procedure (KUHAP) have accommodated the RJ mechanism as part of the law enforcement process.

"Later, when the parties have decided to take legal action through Restorative Justice, of course the Criminal Code also accommodates this and we will make it a guideline in the law enforcement process," he explained.

However, the process is still awaiting an agreement from both parties.

"RJ's request, we investigators are waiting for both parties. And we will facilitate it as provided for in the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Code," he said.

When confirmed regarding the claim of one of the reporters who said that the RJ application had been submitted since last week, Iman admitted that the RJ process was indeed underway.

"Yes," he concluded.

Previously, the Secretary General of Peradi Bersatu, Ade Darmawan, opened the opportunity for the settlement of the case regarding the alleged diploma of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, through the Restorative Justice mechanism, especially for the respondents Eggi Sudjana and Damai Hari Lubis.

This was conveyed by Ade after a brief coordination with the investigators of the Polda Metro Jaya regarding the summoning of the reporters in the case.

"There is indeed a restorative application from the first cluster, including regarding the plan to meet Bang Eggi Sudjana and Damai Hari Lubis with Mr. Joko Widodo. That is what we discussed when we were called today," Ade told reporters at the Polda Metro Jaya.

According to Ade, his party in principle does not close the door to peace efforts as long as it is done in good faith and in accordance with legal procedures.

"We welcome the efforts of Restorative Justice. If that is a good way, why should people be imprisoned. We are open to it," he said.
