President Prabowo Scheduled to Visit IKN During Kunker in Kalimantan

President Prabowo Subianto gave a speech at the inauguration of the 166 People's Schools in Banjarbaru City, South Kalimantan/ANTARA/HO-Presidential Secretariat.

JAKARTA - The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadimeny said President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to visit the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) as part of his working visit to several provinces in Kalimantan.

The visit to IKN is President Prabowo's last agenda in Kalimantan, after the President inaugurated 166 People's Schools in various regions of Indonesia from 9 Integrated People's Schools (SRT) in Banjarbaru City, South Kalimantan, Monday morning.

The President is also scheduled to inaugurate the Pertamina refinery in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, on Monday afternoon.

"Please pray for blessings, then from Balikpapan we will look at IKN," said Prasetyo Hadi as quoted by ANTARA.

The visit to IKN today will be the first made by Prabowo as the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia. Prabowo last visited IKN when he was appointed as the elected president, and was still serving as defense minister under the leadership of President Joko Widodo on September 13, 2024.

Prabowo and the members of the Indonesian Advanced Cabinet at that time attended the plenary Cabinet Meeting chaired by President Jokowi in the Garuda Palace, the Capital of Nusantara, East Kalimantan, Friday. The meeting was the last plenary cabinet meeting chaired by Jokowi.

During the meeting, Jokowi gave directions regarding the transition of government, then received the final report from the coordinating ministers.

Under President Prabowo's leadership, IKN is targeted as the political capital of Indonesia in 2028. Thus, it is projected that executive, legislative, and judicial government activities will take place in IKN in the next 2 years.

So far, the construction phase for office buildings has been underway. The IKN Authority has signed a contract for the construction of the legislative and judicial complex at the end of October to November 2025.

The legislative complex will be built on an area of 42 hectares, and includes the Plenary Session Building, the Consultative Hall, the Democracy Plaza, a museum, and offices. The total budget allocated to build the legislative complex is IDR 8.5 trillion.

Then, the judicial complex in IKN will be built on an area of 15 hectares, and includes a number of buildings for the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court, and the Judicial Commission. The total budget allocated to build the judicial complex is IDR 3.1 trillion.
