JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded 83 houses affected by flooding in Pantoloan Village and Baiya Village, Palu City, on Sunday, January 11.

"In the flyover area, Pantoloan Village, as many as 45 units of residents' houses were affected. Meanwhile, in Baiya Village, as many as 38 units of houses, one school unit, and one market unit were affected," said Acting Head of the Central Sulawesi Provincial BPBD Asbudianto in his report in Palu, Monday.

The flood occurred at around 11.35 WITA, Sunday, January 11, triggered by the overflow of river water from Labuan Village, due to high rainfall intensity.

He said that as many as four families in Baiya Village were forced to evacuate independently. In addition, no casualties were reported in this incident.

He said that currently the joint team is cleaning the residential area to ensure that the condition is safe and conducive.

"The water has receded and the situation is now under control. The joint team continues to monitor and clean the affected area to ensure the safety of residents," he said.

However, he continued that logistics was the main need for affected residents.

Palu Mayor Hadianto Rasyid instructed the relevant regional device organizations (OPD) to move quickly in handling the impact of flooding.

The instructions include providing emergency tents for affected residents, building a communal kitchen, and handling important administrative matters for residents, including documents such as diplomas.

"The Palu City Government is committed to continuing to take emergency response steps while preparing long-term solutions to minimize the risk of flooding in Tawaeli District and its surroundings," he said.
