JAKARTA - The Natuna Regency Government (Pemkab) Natuna, Riau Islands, temporarily deactivated a state civil servant (ASN) from his position as a camat, because he was suspected of committing immoral acts against minors.
Deputy Regent of Natuna Jarmin said that the action was taken after the Natuna Regency Government received a notification letter from the Natuna Police regarding the legal process being carried out by the ASN concerned for alleged immoral acts.
He explained that the deactivation only applies to the position as a camat, while the status of the person concerned as an ASN is still maintained.
"The Decree on the temporary termination of the position of the person concerned has been issued by the Regent of Natuna, effective January 7, 2026," said Jarmin as reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 9.
According to him, the policy was taken as a form of commitment of the local government in enforcing discipline of the apparatus and providing space for law enforcement officers to conduct an objective investigation process.
Jarmin emphasized that ASN would be dismissed permanently if found guilty based on the court's decision and sentenced to imprisonment for more than two years.
Meanwhile, if the verdict is less than two years, ASN can still return to duty provided that it meets the applicable provisions.
"The Natuna Regency Government will be firm against any disciplinary violations committed by employees," he said.
Meanwhile, Head of the Natuna Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Iptu Richie, said his party received a report of the alleged sexual assault at the end of December 2025.
"Currently we are still in the investigation stage of the report. The report was received around December 26," said Richie.
