Governor Mahyeldi ensures that the perpetrators of the grandmother of Saudah who rejected illegal mines will be prosecuted.

West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi Ansharullah emphasized that there was no tolerance for perpetrators of alleged abuse of an elderly woman or elderly named Saudah (68) in Pasaman Regency.

"There must be no violence and persecution. The West Sumatra Regional Police has also arrested the perpetrator of the persecution," he said after attending the anniversary of West Pasaman Regency at Simpang Empat, Wednesday, January 7, reported by ANTARA.

His party has also met with the West Sumatra Police Chief, Inspector General Gatot Tri Suryanta, to follow up on the case.

According to him, for the legal process later, his party will fully hand it over to law enforcement officials including the cause of the incident.

"What the cause is, we leave to the authorities to investigate," he said.

Previously, Deputy Governor Vasko Ruseimy had also urged the police to thoroughly investigate the case.

Vasko said the case of abuse against the elderly woman could not be tolerated because it targeted someone who was helpless.

Therefore, he asked the police to move quickly and process the law of the perpetrator.

The case began with the persecution that befell Saudah in Nagari Padang Mantinggi, Rao District, Pasaman Regency, Thursday (1/1).

Residents found the victim with bruises on his face and his eyes were blue, allegedly due to violence. Saudah is now undergoing medical treatment for the injuries he suffered.

In a weak physical condition, Saudah said she did not intend to prohibit activities at the location, but asked that activities be stopped during the day.

When he shone a flashlight at several people at the location, he was suddenly thrown a stone, beaten, then dragged into the bushes.

The victim admitted that he had lost consciousness after the persecution. Residents then found Saudah in a serious condition and took him to the nearest health facility.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested one person suspected of being the perpetrator of the abuse, initials IS (26) on Monday (5/1).
