Police Name 6 Suspects in the Beating of a Man to Death in Makassar

MAKASSAR - Police have named six suspects in a case of beating accompanied by the persecution of a young man with the initials MFS (19) from Gowa Regency until the victim died at the peak of New Year's Eve on Jalan Kerung-Kerung, Makassar, South Sulawesi.

"This persecution together which resulted in the victim's death was carried out by six people and one of them was a minor," said Makassar Police Chief Kombes Arya Perdana as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 5.

"For the articles applied, because at that time it was still in 2025, so we are still using the old Criminal Code. So, Article 170, Article 351 and 338 with a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison," he said.

The Police Chief explained that the incident occurred at the peak of the New Year's Eve between December 31, 2025 and January 1, 2026 when a firecracker war occurred at the crime scene (TKP).

The victim was with her boyfriend accompanying the sale of culinary on Jalan Kerung-kerung, Makassar District. The situation at the location was indeed crowded with the eruption of firecrackers.

However, at the same time, a firecracker explosion exploded nearby, so he was shocked and spontaneously approached the perpetrators.

However, unfortunately, the victim was mobbed and abused until he was stabbed in the body. The victim was declared dead before being treated medically, allegedly running out of blood.
