Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Police, South Sumatra evacuated the body of a victim who drowned in the Ogan River in Batang Hari Village, Semidang Aji District.
The OKU AKBP Police Chief, Endro Aribowo, in Baturaja, said that the victim was known as Ari Andrian (35) a resident of Tuah Negeri District, Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra Province who was reported to have drowned on Saturday, January 3, 2025, around 18.00 WIB.
"This victim is a daily laborer who works at a company in OKU Regency," he said.
He said, based on information in the field, the unfortunate incident began when the victim was bathing in the Ogan River with two of his colleagues.
The victim was swimming across the Ogan River in Batang Hari Village alone until he drowned and was swept away by the strong river current.
"The victim's body was found by residents around 21.00 WIB, a few meters away from the location where he first drowned," he explained.
According to the Police Chief, based on the results of the initial examination of the victim's body, no signs of violence were found that led to criminal acts.
The victim's family also accepted the incident as a disaster and refused to have a medical autopsy at the local hospital.
"The victim's body was immediately taken to a funeral home in Tuah Negeri District, Musi Rawas Regency. The situation during the evacuation process was safe, conducive, and under control," he added.
