ACEH TAMIANG - As a basis for distributing housing assistance and community recovery, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian asked regional heads in Aceh to accelerate the collection and delivery of data on houses affected by disasters.

He said this in a coordination meeting with President Prabowo Subianto, a number of related ministers, Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf, Deputy Governor of Aceh Fadhlullah, and Regent of Aceh Tamiang Armia Fahmi in Aceh Tamiang, Aceh, Thursday.

"Those from Aceh, please, if you can be faster because don't let the public blame the government for not being fast. In fact, the government is waiting for the data. Therefore, this data is the key, first of all, from the regents and mayors," he said, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, January 1.

Tito said that the speed and accuracy of data were the key to handling housing, with the classification of house damage divided into mild damage, moderate damage, and severe damage.

Based on data as of December 27 received by the government, a total of 68,850 houses were reported to have been slightly damaged, 37,520 houses were moderately damaged, and 56,108 houses were severely damaged in the three affected provinces.

He added that the latest data provided by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded a total of 213,000 affected houses, along with the conditions in the field which are still dynamic.

For houses that are slightly damaged and moderately damaged, the government provides assistance in the form of cost support provided by BNPB, each of which is Rp15 million and Rp30 million.

Tito said the data for housing would also be used by the Ministry of Social Affairs to distribute additional assistance in the form of Rp3 million for household procurement and Rp5 million for family economic recovery.

Meanwhile, for houses that are severely damaged and houses that are lost, the government has prepared a housing replacement scheme, both through the provision of temporary housing and the provision of housing waiting funds (DTH).

All of these assistance schemes, according to Tito, are entirely dependent on the availability and completeness of data from the region.

"But everything is data. We have had several meetings and our regional heads are always the ones we ask for help to help us quickly with the data," he said.

Tito said that data collection in West Sumatra and North Sumatra had been relatively fast, while from Aceh still needed to accelerate data collection.

He said the initial source of the data was at the district and city levels.

In certain conditions, such as in areas where residence documents are lost due to disasters, the government takes accelerated steps by assigning village heads to list light, medium, and heavy damaged houses, then verified by the regent with the assistance of the local Police Chief and Kajari

"The village head makes a list of houses that are slightly damaged, moderately damaged, and severely damaged. The important thing is that it is really believed, and then it is handed over to the regent. The regent is then assisted by the Police Chief with the Kajari to cross-check, sign all three," he said.

The data collection scheme, continued Tito, does not have to wait for it to be complete and can be done gradually.

Data that has been entered can be immediately submitted to BNPB for processing and distribution, while additional data can follow later.

"This will have a big impact when the light and medium ones are given. We have calculated with the Governor and the Deputy Governor, 60 percent will not be in the evacuation," he said.

Tito then gave an example of South Tapanuli Regency which was considered successful in accelerating the distribution of assistance thanks to the availability of data, so that the number of refugees decreased significantly from 21 thousand refugees to only 4 thousand refugees.

"For this reason, I respectfully ask the governor of Aceh, Mr. Wagub, the regents of the 18 affected ones, as soon as possible," said Tito.

"This data is very important so that BNPB can execute, the Minister of Social Affairs can execute, the money is there, the problem is only a matter of data," he concluded.
