JAKARTA - The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has foiled a terrorist attack targeting a school in Adygeya, North Caucasus, Russia, the agency reported.

"The Federal Security Service foiled a terrorist plot against students of a school in the Republic of Adygeya. A citizen of Central Asia, who supports international terrorist organizations banned in Russia, has been detained," the FSB told TASS as quoted (30/12).

Ten homemade molotov cocktails, two tactical knives, and a flag of a terrorist organization were seized from his car parked near the school building, the FSB added.

The attackers' activities were coordinated from abroad via Telegram, as shown by his phone examination, according to the FSB.

The suspect, who is an Asian man, said in a video released by the FSB that he had been assigned to burn Christmas trees at a school.

"I arrived in Maikop. I was contacted via Telegram with a request to burn the school Christmas tree. I was told to make a molotov bomb to do it, then leave the city," he said.

Regarding this planned attack, Russian authorities have opened a criminal investigation case.
