SUMEDANG - The Sumedang Police, West Java, have successfully arrested a perpetrator of thuggery who threatened to burn a minimarket in the Cimanggung District, Sumedang Regency.

Cimanggung Police Chief Kompol Aan Supriatna said the perpetrator with the initials Y (43) came to the minimarket and acted aggressively while making threats of arson against the store building.

"Last night, a thug who threatened to burn a minimarket went viral. Currently, the perpetrator has been successfully secured by us," said Aan in Sumedang, Antara, Tuesday, December 30.

Security against the perpetrators was carried out in less than 24 hours after the police received a report from the community. The perpetrator was secured without resistance in the Cimanggung area.

According to Aan, the perpetrator has now been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Sumedang Police to undergo further examination to investigate the motive and ensure the criminal element of his actions.

"The perpetrator has been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Sumedang Police and is still in the process of being examined," he said.

Aan emphasized that the police would not provide space for any form of gangsterism that could disrupt the sense of security of the community and business actors.

"We will not tolerate any form of gangsterism that threatens the safety of the community and business actors. Every report from the public will be followed up," he said.

Previously, the incident went viral on social media after a video recording circulated showing a man threatening to burn a minimarket in the Parakan Muncang area, Cimanggung District.

In the video, the perpetrator is seen acting aggressively and waving an object resembling a weapon, which caused fear for the minimarket employees and residents around.
