BANDA ACEH - The National SAR Agency (Basarnas) stated that the search operation for victims of the flood disaster in a number of disaster-affected areas in Aceh Province had been stopped.

Head of Basarnas Banda Aceh Ibnu Harris Al Hussain in Banda Aceh, Thursday, said the search operation was shifted to a monitoring operation because in the last few days there was no discovery of disaster victims.

"The search operation, which has been carried out for a month, has been stopped and shifted to monitoring operations. In recent days, the search operation does not require results," said Harris Al Hussain.

He said that the operation to disburse flood victims in Aceh Province had been going on for 31 days and on Thursday (25/12) was the last day of the search operation.

Ibnu Harris Al Hussain said that until now there are still 31 people who have been declared missing. With a month since the disaster, it is unlikely that the missing victims will survive.

"The time for someone to survive in a disaster is the longest seven days. Now it has been 31 days after the disaster, so it is unlikely that those who were declared missing are in a safe condition," he said.

Although the direct search was stopped, he said, the operation continued. The operation was carried out with monitoring and if there were any victims found, the SAR team immediately went down to the field.

"We also appeal to the public if they find a victim to immediately report it for the evacuation process. Currently, the SAR team remains on standby and continues to monitor the disaster site," said Ibnu Harris Al Hussain.

Meanwhile, based on data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) as of Thursday (25/12), the number of deaths from the flood disaster in Aceh Province reached 503 people and 31 people were declared missing.
