JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung visited a number of churches during the Christmas 2025 mass and evening worship. The last church visited by Pramono was the Holy Family Parish Catholic Church, East Jakarta.
During the visit, Pramono invited Christians to celebrate Christmas with joy, but still remember brothers and sisters who are affected by disasters in several areas of Sumatra.
Pramono said that this year's Christmas celebration took place in the midst of a grief situation after the disaster experienced by the people in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. Therefore, he asked for a joint prayer that the victims would be given safety and strength.
"Let's welcome this Christmas with joy, but don't forget simplicity. Because now, some of our brothers, are in Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, are being hit by disasters," said Pramono, Wednesday, December 24.
According to Pramono, prayer and solidarity are an important part in the midst of disasters, while hoping that the lives of people in the affected areas can return to normal soon.
"Hopefully the disaster that has been experienced can be avoided immediately and also run well, because after all I believe it will be soon, hopefully the lives of people there will soon be normal again," he said.
On that occasion, Pramono also touched on the implementation of Christmas celebrations in Jakarta which ran smoothly. He said, the local government also monitored a number of worship activities at various churches.
Pramono emphasized his position as the head of the region that oversees all Jakarta residents without discriminating on the basis of religion, ethnicity, or group.
"The most important thing in this Christmas celebration, I as the Governor of Jakarta, I have repeatedly said, as the Governor, I will definitely be the Governor for all people, all religions, all groups, all ethnic groups," he said.
Pramono assessed that various cross-cultural and religious activities, including Christmas celebrations in public spaces, were a reflection of the harmony that had been built in Jakarta.
According to him, harmony among religious communities is an important foundation for Jakarta, which is being directed as a global city and is expected to serve as an example for other regions in Indonesia.
"If you brothers can enjoy the colossal Christmas Carol in the streets in the next few days, this is a reflection of the harmony of religious people who have always been the strength of this nation," concluded Pramono.
