JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has started a flood and rob control project for the period 2025-2027 with a contract value of Rp. 2.62 trillion. This project is marked by the signing of the contract inauguration by the DKI Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Office together with the implementing company.
DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the project was named JakTirta, as an effort to strengthen Jakarta's resilience against flood and rob threats. This program is designed for the medium term, not reactive emergency handling.
"The value of this signing is IDR 2.62 trillion to strengthen the resilience of the city of Jakarta against floods and floods. For handling flood projects in Jakarta, we call it JakTirta. Why JakTirta? Jak is Jakarta, Tirta is water," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, December 24.
Pramono explained that the JakTirta project began with the procurement of tenders since mid-2025, followed by the signing of contracts at the end of 2025, and the project was carried out in early 2026 until the end of 2027.
"Hopefully this is a medium-term program, so this package will last until the end of 2027. Hopefully, with this, the handling of embankments, ponds, and so on will be better," said Pramono.
According to him, the signing of the contract was carried out early so that the construction process would not accumulate at the end of the budget year. Because, Pramono assessed that this practice often caused problems in absorbing the budget and excessive workload at the end of the year.
"Because this is indeed a medium-term handling and as I said I allow the contract or the process to be carried out earlier, not piled up at the end of the year and then caused an extraordinary rush in November and December," said Pramono.
The former Cabinet Secretary emphasized that reactive flood management is no longer relevant for Jakarta, which faces regular flood and rob challenges. Therefore, the implementation of this multi-year project is expected to improve water control infrastructure that can reduce the volume of Jakarta floods.
"The handling of floods in Jakarta, once again, cannot be short-term or if a flood occurs, we will rush," said Pramono.
Meanwhile, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Water Resources Office, Ika Agustin Ningrum, explained that this project was divided into four main clusters. This includes the construction of a polder system, the construction of rivers and rivers, the construction of ponds or reservoirs, and the construction and strengthening of coastal protection embankments.
"The locations that we will work on are directed to handle puddles in areas that have historically experienced puddle incidents based on data on the distribution of puddles from 2020 to 2024, the period of repeated puddles and floods," explained Ika.
The launched activity package consists of nine packages of polder system development in 13 locations with the addition of 63 new pumps, two pond development packages in three locations, two coastal protection embankment development packages along two kilometers, and river revitalization along two kilometers.
For the implementation of the work, a number of state-owned enterprises and private companies are involved as providers of construction services. These companies include PT Adhi Karya, PT Brantas Abipraya, PT Nindya Karya, PT Pembangunan Perumahan (PP), PT Jaya Konstruksi, PT Modern Widya Technical, and PT Suburo Jayana Indah Corp.
