The National Police Chief Emphasizes that the National Police Will Not Allow Fireworks Parties in 2026

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said the National Police Headquarters did not give permission for fireworks to celebrate New Year 2026 on Wednesday, December 31 night.

"What is clear from the National Police Headquarters, we did not give permission for the fireworks celebration that is usually held at the end of the year," said Listyo Sigit after reviewing the movement of the Nataru homecoming transportation flow at the Senen Market Station, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, December 23.

The National Police Chief handed over the technical aspects related to the raid and the sanctions for the New Year's fireworks celebration to the regional police (polda) in each region.

He himself appealed to the public to take advantage of the new year celebrations with useful activities, such as praying for people affected by the Sumatra disaster.

"We do not give recommendations for the use of fireworks at the end of the year because we know that the current situation is all facing the same situation that we feel the atmosphere of spirituality, and we all pray for our brothers who are now affected by the disaster in Sumatra," he said. quoted from Antara.

Furthermore, the leader of the Bhayangkara Corps also said the police had reduced 234,000 personnel who would be assigned to service posts, security posts, and integrated posts during the 2025 Christmas and New Year 2026 (Nataru) period.

For the integrated post itself, he said, it contains institutions that are needed in the service of the Nataru period, such as the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) and the TNI.

"So that later in its activities it can be integrated and synergistic in dealing with existing problems," he said.

Previously, Deputy Governor of Jakarta Rano Karno said the change of year 2025 to 2026 in Jakarta would take place simply and without fireworks.

"The Governor said that this New Year there would be no fireworks. So that there is no impression that we are being extravagant," he said.

Meanwhile, the management of Taman Impian Jaya Ancol Tbk also canceled the fireworks show at New Year's Eve as a form of deep condolences for the disaster in Sumatra.
