JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Satpol PP has disciplined 16 billboards that are considered potentially dangerous to the safety of residents.

The crackdown was carried out following a recommendation from the DKI Jakarta Department of Construction, Spatial Planning, and Land (Citata) after field inspections found a number of billboard constructions in a rusty condition.

The steps of the crackdown were a follow-up to the results of the evaluation meeting of the Integrated Crackdown Team for Advertising Implementation. From the approximately 30 billboard points included in the Citata recommendation letter, Satpol PP prioritized 16 locations that were considered the most risky.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Satpol PP, Satriadi Gunawan, said this order was carried out as a preventive effort to protect public safety.

"We carry out the regulation of billboards that are considered potentially dangerous. The assessment of the feasibility of the construction of billboard buildings is not the authority of the Satpol PP, but the relevant technical agencies. However, we will follow up on the recommendations," said Satriadi at the Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, December 23.

He explained that the billboards violated Article 65 letters f and g of DKI Jakarta Governor's Regulation Number 148 of 2017 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Advertising. Of the 16 billboards that were prioritized, 15 of them had been disciplined in the period 12-19 December 2025, while the other point was still in the enforcement phase.

"Of the total of about 30 billboards listed in the Citata recommendation letter, we are currently prioritizing 16 points for enforcement first. Enforcement of the remaining billboards will continue in 2026, depending on the availability of the budget," said Satriadi.

The billboard material was evacuated and stored at the Cakung Warehouse owned by the DKI Jakarta Satpol PP. The enforcement process was carried out in a coordinated manner by involving the local lurah and camat, PJLP or TPSU, Citata, the Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), KPTSP, Bina Marga, to the Environment Service.

Satriadi added that before the crackdown was carried out, Satpol PP had sent a warning letter and appeal to the owner or manager of the billboard in accordance with the applicable procedures.

"Before the crackdown, we have also sent a warning letter and appeal to the owner or manager of the billboard in accordance with the applicable regulations," he said.

In addition to permanent billboards, Satpol PP also oversees the installation of temporary billboards and attributes. This supervision refers to the Governor of DKI Jakarta's directive which limits the installation of attributes only within the time frame of H-4 before the activity until H+2 after the activity.

"We have also established prohibited areas for the installation of attributes. This policy is running smoothly and has been socialized to political parties and community organizations through guidance by Kesbangpol," concluded Satriadi.

A total of 16 billboards that have been disciplined are spread across North, Central, West, East, and South Jakarta, with sizes ranging from 2 x 3 meters to 16 x 8 meters. All of them are considered to have rusted or potentially dangerous construction for road users and residents around them.
