North Sumatra Police Deploy 11,417 Personnel for the 2025 Toba Candle Operation

Medan - The North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda) has deployed 11,417 personnel to increase security and public services during the 2025 Toba Candle Operation.

"We ensure full readiness in providing the best protection and services to the public during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 momentum," said North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Whisnu Hermawan Februanto in Medan, Wednesday, December 17, reported by ANTARA.

Whisnu said that tens of thousands of personnel were a combination of the National Police, TNI, transportation services, health services, and other related institutions which were held for 14 days, starting from December 20, 2025 to January 2, 2026.

Security will be strengthened by establishing 166 posts, consisting of 90 security posts, 63 service posts, and 13 integrated posts.

"The post will be a center for controlling, coordinating, and responding quickly to potential disturbances in kamtibmas and emergency situations, especially in disaster-prone areas," said the Police Chief.

Whisnu said that cross-sectoral coordination would continue to be strengthened so that every potential vulnerability could be anticipated in a measurable and effective manner.

"The ultimate goal is to ensure that people can celebrate Christmas and New Year safely, orderly, and full of joy," he said.

He added that in addition to securing the homecoming and Christmas worship celebrations, the operation also prioritizes humanitarian missions, especially in disaster-affected areas.

"Such as cleaning and repairing houses of worship, relocating temporary places of worship, and accelerating the recovery of road access and vital infrastructure," he said.

"With solid synergy and sincere dedication, we want to ensure that the people of North Sumatra can celebrate Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 safely, comfortably, and full of hope," he said.
