Polda Metro Jadi Polda Gelar UKW untuk Menjaga Jakarta dari Derasnya Berita Hoaks

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri also attended the opening of the Journalist Competence Test (UKW) which was held by Polda Metro Jaya together with the Polda Metro Jaya Police Journalist Forum (FWP) in collaboration with the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) Pusat and PWI Jaya.

The activity was held at the Polda Metro Jaya Meeting Building, South Jakarta, which was held on December 15-16, 2025 with the title 'Competent and Professional Journalists to Guard Jakarta from False Information'.

Asep Edi said that in the competence test which was attended by 86 participants, it was hoped that it could run smoothly and could increase the synergy of journalists with the police, especially the Metro Jaya Police.

"In terms of anticipating the future, how do we counteract the news that is getting ahead, getting faster, disintegrating a lot, a lot of hoax news, so we need to equalize perceptions and also good cooperation between the press and the police," said Asep Edi in his statement, Monday, December 15, 2025.

The UKW activity is also in line with the statement of the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, regarding the importance of synergy and collaboration in combating the spread of false information or hoaxes that are detrimental to the wider community.

"We are facing an era where the use of technology, people can become news makers whose content needs to be verified," said Sigit when attending the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) event on November 30, 2025.

At that time, Sigit conveyed that the presence of the press in the public space is very important to be able to provide reliable information in conveying the truth and providing education to the public.

"We are entering a post-truth era, not necessarily the content is true but it is considered the truth. The press can provide input so that the public can get the right information," he added.

In the event, the Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Budi Hermanto, was also present along with the Police Chief of the Metro Jaya Police and the Head of the Metro Jaya Police, Chairman of the FWP Achmad Faruk, Chairman of the PWI Pusat Akhmad Munir, and Chairman of the PWI Jaya Kesit Budi Handoyo.

The UKW activity was also the first pioneer of the Police in Indonesia that held a UKW.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Central PWI Akhmad Munir, appreciated the Metro Jaya Police for facilitating the UKW activities, especially for journalists who are assigned to cover in the Metro Jaya Police area.

He assessed that the activity was very important for journalists with integrity, professionalism, and also ethical, so that they could produce quality, accurate works, and could enlighten, educate, and empower the community, especially the people of Jakarta.

"This competency test is a very important part for journalists, first, always maintaining integrity. Second, improving professionalism. And third, strengthening the press community to maintain the dignity and dignity of the Indonesian press," he said.

Akhmad Munir also hopes that collaboration in the implementation of activities with the ranks of the Polda Metro Jaya can create a safe, orderly, and peaceful city for its citizens.
