BANJARMASIN - The South Kalimantan Province's Tanah Laut Forest Management Unit (KPH) secured dozens of logs suspected of coming from illegal logging activities during a patrol to secure forest areas in Riam Adungan Village, Kintap District, Tanah Laut Regency.
Head of the South Kalimantan Provincial Forestry Service, Fathimatuzzahra, appreciated the firm action taken by the Tanah Laut KPH and the TKPH Polhut ranks.

The patrol was carried out by the KPH Tanah Laut Forest Protection Section with the involvement of Forestry Police and Forest Security Contract (TKPH) as part of efforts to prevent and take action against illegal activities in forest areas.
"We will continue to strengthen the implementation of patrols and surveillance of this forest area in accordance with applicable regulations, to maintain the sustainability of Banua forest," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Tanah Laut KPH, Rudiono Herlambang, said officers found two locations for storing wood without owners. In the first location, 27 pieces of mixed jungle wood were found, while in the second location, eight pieces of meranti wood were found.
"Officers have coordinated with the Head of Riam Adungan Village to trace the ownership of the wood. However, until the examination is completed, no party has admitted to being the owner," he said.
All the wood findings were then secured and transported using a truck to the Tanah Laut KPH Office as evidence. The wood has a diameter of around 20 to 35 centimeters with a length of approximately four meters.
