Child Trapped in Sigasland Jambi Housing Drainage Found Dead 5 Km from Location

JAMBI - A 5-year-old girl named Aisyah fell into a residential drainage flow on Friday afternoon (12/12), was found dead entangled in the drainage bushes 5 km from the scene.

"After being evacuated by the Jambi Basarnas team, Aisyah's body was taken to a funeral home in the Sigasland Housing, RT 45, Simpang III Sipin Village, Jambi City to be handed over to the family for burial," said Dantim SAR Operations Office of the Jambi Basarnas, Djuniato, reported by ANTARA, Saturday, December 13.

The victim was found by the SAR team after conducting a search in the drainage stream in a dead state.

The location where the victim was found was found entangled in the bushes of the drainage of RT 14 Jalan Sunan Bonang, Simpang III Sipin Village, at a distance of about 5 kilometers from the initial location of the incident.

Djuniato, said the search process was carried out thoroughly by following the drainage flow to several kilometers from the starting point where the victim was suspected of being swept away and the team carried out a search following the drainage flow with the support of equipment that was finally found.

"After we found the victim, he was immediately evacuated and handed over to the family," he said.

This incident began on Friday afternoon at around 16.00 WIB, when the victim was playing in the rain with two friends around the Sigasland RT 45 Housing. It is suspected that the victim slipped and was dragged by the strong drainage flow due to the rain.

The Jambi SAR Office received a report of the incident at 18.30 WIB from the Camat of Kota Baru.

Following up on the report, eight rescuers were dispatched and arrived at the location at 18.55 WIB to search. The search was temporarily stopped because it was late at night and then continued on Saturday.

"With the discovery of the victim in a dead state, the SAR operation against the drifting victim was declared closed. All elements involved were returned to their respective units and we thank all the joint SAR teams and the community who have helped the search process," said Djuniato.
