German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Thursday US President Donald Trump had accepted a proposal on a region concession that Ukraine was ready to give to end the war with Russia.
Chancellor Merz said the proposal was sent after he and other European leaders spoke by telephone with President Trump on Wednesday.
"This is mainly a question about what region concessions Ukraine is ready to give," Chancellor Merz said, launching Al Arabiya from AFP (11/12).
However, Chancellor Merz warned that in the end "The President of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people must answer that question."
Chancellor Merz, in a joint press conference with NATO Chief Mark Rutte Mark Rutter said "it would be a mistake to force the president of Ukraine to make peace with his people after four years of suffering and death."
On Wednesday, President Trump expressed his impatientness with Ukraine with his European allies, France, Britain, and Germany.
President Trump said "hard words" were exchanged in a phone call with Chancellor Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron.
