From Tumblers to Waste Sorting, Bogor DPRD Chair Urges Youth to Protect the Environment

BOGOR - Chairman of the Bogor City DPRD, Adityawarman Adil, conveyed the importance of the role of the younger generation in every revival phase, including in efforts to improve and protect the environment. He conveyed this when he was a resource person in the Green Leadership activity of the Green School held by the Muhammadiyah Youth in Bogor City at SMAT SMART YBN, Bojong Karyas, Curug Village, West Bogor District.

"If there is a revival, there must be youth," said Adityawarman when providing briefing to the participants.

He emphasized that the concept of green leadership means the presence of young people who are able to bring real changes to their environment. According to him, Muhammadiyah Youth needs to have a big vision and mission in maintaining environmental sustainability, which starts from simple habits.

"CARRYing a tumble is a good habit. It can reduce plastic waste from bottled water," Adityawarman said in his statement, Wednesday, December 10.

Adityawarman also reminded the importance of the habit of throwing garbage wisely. He gave an example, garbage that is thrown away carelessly and then into ditches or rivers will accumulate and cause flooding.

"Currently, the production of waste in Bogor City reaches 500 tons per day. If it is not wise, Bogor City could be a smell, muddy, and flood," he explained.

He also emphasized the need to sort waste before throwing it away. By sorting, some of the waste can be recycled so as to reduce the volume of waste that enters the disposal site.

"Disposing of garbage in the form of sorted is an effort to reduce environmental damage," he said.

The activity was closed with a joint photo session and the handover of tree seeds from the chairman of the Bogor City DPRD to the Regional Executive of Muhammadiyah Youth in Bogor City as a symbol of a joint commitment in environmental conservation movements.
