KemenPU Targets Four-wheeled Vehicles To Cross The Anai Valley By No Later Than December 16

TANAH DATAR - Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo said four-wheeled vehicles are expected to be able to pass Jalan Lembah Anai in Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra, after being cut off due to flash floods no later than 15 to 16 December 2025.

"Alhamdulillah, today Jalan Lembah Anai can be passed by motorbikes. Maybe at the latest around 15-16 December the car can be passed," said PU Minister Dody Hanggodo in Tanah Datar Regency, Monday.

But on the other hand, during a field review, Dody said there were quite steep cliffs around the area, so further handling was needed. Therefore, he has instructed a team from related parties to speed up handling on the steep cliff side.

"Because if it rains continuously, I'm afraid that the cliff will collapse and then have an impact on road construction," he said.

The Minister of Public Works said that his party had coordinated with BNPB, BMKG and other related parties through the Deputy Governor of West Sumatra to request modifications to the weather in the province in order to accelerate handling at affected points where improvements were being carried out.

Meanwhile, West Sumatra Deputy Governor Vasko Ruseimy has previously coordinated with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) to accelerate handling measures including the implementation of weather modifications so that access to disaster-affected areas can open immediately.

According to him, the current situation in West Sumatra is still in a state of emergency with uncertain weather, making every handling must continue to be adjusted from time to time.

"We will continue to strive with weather modifications to make the rain lighter," he said again.
