Russia's Sukhoi Su-30SM2 Fighter Jet Successfully Destroys Hundreds Of Targets In Ukraine, Including The US Patriot System

JAKARTA - Russia's Sukhoi Su-30SM2 fighter jet, which is the result of modernization, is claimed to have succeeded in destroying hundreds of targets, including the United States-made Patriot air defense system, in a special military operation in Ukraine, state technology company Rostec reports.

The Sukhoi Su-30SM2 fighter jet is a further development of warplanes operating in the Russian Air Force and Navy.

The Su-30SM2 fighter aircraft is equipped with advanced radio-electronic and electronic warfare equipment as well as new air launchers.

"These types of aircraft have proven their effectiveness in special military operations. They have a record of hundreds of destroyed air and land targets, including the Patriot system," Rostec said, as reported by TASS December 1.

The Sukhoi Su-30SM2 is a highly maneuverable fighter jet with high performance characteristics, which uses a wide range of weapons, including long-range weapons, Rostec said.

"Thanks to its strong radar, Su-30SM2 can 'see' further and more accurately, which facilitates crew operations. In addition, its advanced electronic warfare system allows warplanes to effectively counter weapons launched from enemy air," Rostec said.

United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec) has delivered a number of Su-30SM2 multi-role fighter jets to the Russian Ministry of Defense, according to an official statement.

Rostec's united Aircraft Corporation has produced and delivered a number of Su-30SM2 multi-role fighter jets to the Russian Ministry of Defense based on a defense procurement plan, the statement said.

The Su-30SM2 fighter has undergone mandatory ground and flight tests and has flown to its combat duties, Rostec said in a statement.

"Navy flight crews have received the Su-30SM2 aircraft. The Su-30SM2 supermanuver fighter aircraft is one of the most advanced fighter aircraft belonging to the Russian Armed Forces. This aircraft protects the country's borders along the border perimeter," Rostec said in a statement citing a fighter jet pilot.

"We do not stop at our achievements and, along with the delivery of rhythmic equipment, we continue to strive to improve our aircraft, in particular taking into account the experience gained in special military operations. In this process, we are increasing the production rate," said UAC CEO Vadim Badekha, as quoted by the press office.

Quoted from Indomilitary, Su-30SM2 is an extensive modernization program of the Su-30SM. The striking difference between these two fighter jets is the integration of the three main systems of Sukhoi Su-35S fighter jets, radar, engines and weaponry on the Su-30SM2.

The N035 Irbis-E radar as well as the air-to-air, air-to-ground and anti-ship security system became a system that previously only existed in Su-35S which now exists in Su-30SM2.
