JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Water Resources (SDA) Office, Ika Agustin Ningrum, inspected three main locations that experienced seepage and runoff of sea water that caused tidal flooding that occurred in North Jakarta.
"The first point is on the Muara Baru embankment, which has been experiencing seepages since the age of the embankment for a long time," said Head of the Penjaringan Sub-district Implementing Unit (Kasatpel), Pendi, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, December 5.
He said that in Muara Baru it was not a puddle but a seepage from behind the embankment. There is a section of the embankment that has weakened, so that water enters through small gaps.
"Temporary handling we do by paving a leaking point using sandbags," he said.
Until now, said Pendi, around 500 sandbags have been used to cover the parts that have been leaked. This number is expected to continue to grow because the team in the field still finds other points of seepage that need to be strengthened.
Then the second point visited by the Head of the DKI SDA Service is Muara Baru Port, especially in the Jalan Tuna III area which had gone viral due to runoff from the dock area.
He explained that the runoff occurred because the water came out of the gap in the guardrail of the pier which directly bordered the sea level.
Earlier we received instructions from Mrs. Kadis to install a sand embankment along the fence which is the waterway. The length is certainly still calculated because the area is quite large," he said.
Handling at this location uses a sand embankment while remembering that the area is under the authority of Pelindo. "Because the area is Pelindo, so we cannot do the construction of a permanent embankment right away. The sand embankment was chosen because it is flexible and can be moved according to the needs of handling," said Pendi.
Then the third location is in the Mandala Bahari Guideline area which also experiences runoff from the warehousing area which is directly adjacent to sea water.
According to him, the conditions in Mandala Bahari are quite complex because there are residents' buildings that stand very close to the water line.
He said that in Mandala Bahari, the permanent side of the embankment was safe, but there was one point in the warehousing area and people's houses.
"The loss occurred from that area, and because the building status was not clear, coordination must be carried out more carefully," he said.
Pendi said the plan to make the embankment on the front side of the residential area had been delayed due to residents' refusal.
Dulu saat mau di embankment di depannya, kami sempat didemo. Karena itu sekarang kami tidak menegaskan. Tapi akibatnya air kembali masuk ke jalan, katanya.
Pendi added that all handling at these three points was still an emergency while waiting for further coordination with Pelindo and other related parties.
The SDA Task Force is still working in the field, and coordination continues. For the second location alone, the number of sandbags needed may be very large, but we are still waiting for the certainty of the length of the area that must be on the embankment," he said.
He ensured that all emergency measures were carried out to reduce the impact of the tidal wave in the coastal area of North Jakarta.
"We are trying to handle it quickly at all points that experience seepage and runoff. Cross-party coordination is very important so that the handling runs effectively," said Pendi.
