Citarum River Debit In High Dayeuhkolot, Bandung City Government Deploys 8 Pumps

The Bandung Regency Government (Pemkab) in West Java (West Java) has prepared eight pump units to suck up flood water from the residential area of Dayeuhkolot to the Citarum River.

Deputy Regent of Bandung Ali Syakieb said the high water discharge in the Citarum River was an obstacle to pump operation.

"Actually, the government has prepared the pump. But the problem is, the river water level is still high. So we have to wait for the water to recede a little before the pump can be operated," he said in Bandung, Friday, confiscated by Antara.

He also added that his party always monitors the series of hydrometeorological disasters that have occurred since Thursday night in his area.

"Monitoring continues until the dawn and until now because the situation is quite severe. In fact, according to reports, there are those who are affected up to a height of 1.5 meters," he added.

Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary of Bandung Regency, Cakra Amiyana, said that the party would immediately hold a coordination meeting to follow up on efforts to overcome the disaster.

The meeting will also determine whether emergency response status needs to be implemented by involving forkopimda elements and other relevant officials.

"For this reason (determination of disaster status) this afternoon we will hold a meeting related to determining the follow-up with Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and other officials", he said.

On that occasion, he also added that there were several landslides in addition to the floods that occurred.

"Several landslide points such as Pangalengan, Panyirapan, Cangkuang 'Bandasari, Soreang, and Cimaung," he added.

He said that assistance had started arriving from various agencies, including the Social Service and BPBD for West Java Province.

So far, there have been no reports of casualties due to the disaster.

The government hopes that conditions will remain under control and there will be no casualties until the entire handling process is complete.
