2 Planes Destination India Get Bomb Threats, One Of Them Flying From Medina

JAKARTA - Two passengers on the IndiGo airline on the United Arab Emirates (UAE)-India route received a bomb threat. One of them flew from Medina, UAE.

IndiGo said in its official statement that the two planes were bound for Medina-Hyderabad and the Sharjah-Telangan route flew on Thursday, December 4.

Both flights were diverted to another airport after the threat of a bomb.

The first plane on the Medina-Hyderabad route made an emergency landing of a remote bay after on-flight IndiGo receiving an explosion threat email if the plane landed on its destination.

The plane carrying more than 180 passengers and the six crew members landed in Ahmedabad during the day and was immediately checked by officers.

The flight landed in Ahmedababad after Hyderabad authorities received a bomb threat via email. The email threatened that if the plane was allowed to land in Hyderabad, the plane would be detonated by a bomb. As a result, there was an emergency landing in Ahmedabad, "said Deputy Police Commissioner for the Four Ahmedabad Zone, Atul Bansal, Thursday, December 4, quoted from the Hindustan Times.

A few hours later, another plane from IndiGo to the capital Telangana also received similar danger. However, the plane was diverted to land in Mumbai after the threat of a bomb.

To date, more than 300 IndiGo flights have been canceled because the airline has difficulty adapting to the new flight schedule rules.

Officials familiar with the matter said at least 33 flights were canceled, including routes from Delhi, 68 from Hyderabad, 85 from Mumbai, and 73 from Bengaluru on Thursday. On Wednesday, at least 67 flights were canceled at Delhi airport (37 departures and 30 arrivals), 42 in Bengaluru, 40 in Hyderabad (19 departures and 21 arrivals), and 33 in Mumbai (17 departures and 16 arrivals).
