The Reform Commission Asks The National Police Chief To Review The Enforcement Of Thousands Of Demonstrators At The End Of August

The National Police Reform Acceleration Commission asked the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to review the prosecution of thousands of demonstrators in a demonstration at the end of August 2025.

The Commission also recommends that the police consider mitigating law enforcement of female, children and disabled women, both physical and mental disabilities, so that this number can be reduced.

"We ask that it be given consideration so that even if it cannot be removed from its status, it will at least have a suspension, it will be suspended," he said.

"How many of these will be studied by the National Police Chief internally. It will be announced in due course," he added.

In a press conference in September, the National Police announced that the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police and 15 regional police officers handled 246 cases related to riots in various parts of Indonesia that occurred on August 25, August 31.

Of these, a total of 959 suspects were arrested, consisting of 664 adults and 295 children.
