JAKARTA - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak said his party would build a bridge to connect several damaged land access in the flood area of Sumatra.

"We have prepared Bailey Bridge, no later than Friday 8 sets will depart, hopefully this can connect several critical areas," Maruli said during a press conference at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, East Jakarta, Wednesday, December 3.

Maruli explained that it took several days for his party to bring a series of bridges to the location of the cut route.

After arriving at the location, his party will try to complete the construction of the bridge as soon as possible.

"So the installation may take about five days to a week," said Maruli.

While building the bridge, Maruli ensured that his troops would also be deployed to assist the evacuation and delivery of logistics in flooded areas.

When asked about the location of the bridge construction, the Army Chief of Staff did not explain in detail.

To note, some points of land routes are still impassable due to landslides. One of them is in the Central Tapanuli area, North Sumatra.

Due to these conditions, logistics delivery is still carried out using the dropwater method, the helibox from the Indonesian Air Force transport aircraft.
