Members Of The DPR's F-PDIP Hope The Government Makes Extra Efforts To Accelerate Disaster Management In West Sumatra

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission IV of the DPR from the PDIP faction, Alex Indra Lukman, hopes that the central government will immediately accelerate the handling of the impact of floods and landslides that occurred in West Sumatra, as well as other areas such as Aceh and North Sumatra.

This was conveyed by Alex after he and the Chairman of Commission IV of the DPR Titiek Soeharto directly inspected the cut off bridge and the public kitchen that was opened by the TNI-Polri in parts of West Sumatra.

"We also received reports from the governor and deputy governor and regent of Padang Pariaman and deputy mayor of Padang. From the existing reports that local governments can still carry out their functions properly, but of course we hope that it will intervene from the central government to immediately deal with this emergency response and accelerate regional recovery, of course in West Sumatra. Many road access is cut off," said Alex Indra Lukman at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, December 1.

The PDIP legislator from the West Sumatra I electoral district also expressed his gratitude to President Prabowo Subianto for sending aid to isolated areas in West Sumatra by helicopter.

"Regarding the assistance of the president, we must thank the president for sending aid via plane and also helicopters that are standardized to be able to send aid by air to people in isolated areas," said Alex.

Alex said that the public also expressed their aspirations to the leadership of Commission IV of the DPR regarding their needs during the evacuation. "Yes, in an emergency response period, of course, the basic needs are food, whether the clothes for women also need extra related to this internality, sanitary napkins, and others," he said.

"Yesterday we also fulfilled what we can work together, we work together, but we are sure that the government can help this in this recovery period so that it can be carried out quickly," added Alex.

In the future, Alex hopes that the government will immediately make extra efforts to reopen the cut roads so that post-disaster recovery is immediately carried out in accordance with the expectations of the community.

"(And) Regarding the status of a national disaster, I don't want to polemic. This is related to status. The status of the national disaster is in the form of Presidential Decree, but until now the president has worked hard to order his subordinates to take to the field. For me, the status is please ask the executive, not our territory in the DPR," said Alex.
