The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that the total death toll from flash floods and landslides in North Sumatra, Aceh, and West Sumatra had reached 442 people.
The data was conveyed by the Head of BNPB Lt. Gen. Suharyanto at a press conference at the National Support Post, Silangit Airport, North Tapanuli, Sunday, November 30.
In addition to the victims who died, as many as 402 people were still declared missing in the three provinces. Search and rescue operations continue to be carried out by a joint team of BNPB, TNI/Polri, Basarnas, ministries/agencies as well as local governments to accelerate evacuation and open access to affected areas.
Suharyanto said the number of victims who died in North Sumatra reached 217 after several victims who had previously been missing were found on Sunday morning. Meanwhile, 209 residents are still missing. Victims are scattered in the areas of Central Tapanuli, South Tapanuli, Sibolga City, North Tapanuli, Humbang Hasundutan, West Pakpak, Padang Sidempuan, Deli Serdang, and Nias.
"The death toll for North Sumatra is 217 who died then 209 who are still missing," said Suharyanto.
In Aceh, the number of victims who died was recorded at 96 people and 75 people were still missing. The victims were in 11 districts/cities, including Bener Meriah, Central Aceh, Pidie Jaya, Bireuen, Southeast Aceh, North Aceh, East Aceh, Lhokseumawe, Gayo Lues, Subulussalam, and Nagan Raya. The number of refugees reached 62 thousand families.
Meanwhile in West Sumatra, BNPB recorded 129 victims who died, 118 people were missing, and 16 others were injured. The victims were scattered in Agam, Padang, Padang Panjang, Padang Pariaman, Tanah Datar, Pasaman, Solok, Solok City, and Pesisir Selatan. The total number of refugees reached 77,918 people.
"This is the death toll of 129 people, then 118 and 16 were injured," said Suharyanto.
Land access to a number of affected areas in three provinces is still cut off due to landslides and damage to bridges. In North Sumatra, the Tarutung 'Sibolga route and several sections in Mandailing Natal have not been passed.
