Pegadaian Plants 1,000 Mangroves To Take Off Tukik At World Habitat Day 2025

JAKARTA - PT Pegadaian held a World Habitat Day 2025 commemoration with a focus on preserving marine and coastal ecosystems. This year, they carried the theme Environmental Hijaukan Packaging the Future with Pegadaian' as part of the implementation of the company's environmental, sustainability & governance (ESG) principle.

Indonesia as a maritime country is still facing problems with plastic waste pollution, coastal abrasion, and declining the quality of mangrove ecosystems and coral reefs. Through this momentum, Pegadaian invites people to be involved in maintaining sea and coastal sustainability.

The series of activities carried out include planting 1,000 mangrove seeds, planting coral reefs, and releasing hatchlings in coastal areas.

Head of the Business Support Department of PT Pegadaian Regional Office VIII Jakarta 1, Indra Arifianto, said that environmental sustainability was part of the company's long-term strategy.

"The pawnshop is committed to becoming a agents of change that not only provides financial services to the community, but is also actively preserving nature," said Indra in his statement, Sunday, November 30.

Indra said this activity was also a contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal (TPB/SDGs), especially TPB 13 regarding the handling of climate change, TPB 14 regarding marine ecosystems, and TPB 15, which focuses on the land ecosystem.

Through this activity, Indra hopes that more and more parties will be moved to protect the environment through simple steps such as reducing plastic waste, using recycled products, and maintaining beach cleanliness.

"Through World Habitat Day activities, we want to ensure that the Indonesian sea remains a healthy, productive, and sustainable habitat for future generations," he said.
