Modernization and Integrity, the Keys to Police Reform Under General Sigit’s Leadership

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo is considered successful in encouraging various steps to transform institutions within the National Police through the concepts of Precision (Predictive, Responsive, and Transparent).

Executive Director of the Center for Indonesian Security and Armed Forces Studies (CISA), Herry Mendrofa, assessed that these various changes should be appreciated because they are able to increase public professionalism and trust in police institutions.

According to Herry, in recent years the National Police has shown significant changes in public services, strengthening integrity, and modernizing the work system. He assessed that the steps taken by the National Police Chief to bring the National Police closer to the community as well as strengthen the position of the police as a representation of civil supremacy in democracy.

"The transformation carried out by the National Police Chief has had a real impact on improving the quality of public services and public trust. This is proof of the seriousness of the Police in building a professional and modern work culture," said Herry Mendrofa in Jakarta.

One of the big steps taken by the National Police Chief is the formation of the Police Reform Transformation Team in September 2025 which consists of 52 high and middle officers. This team was formed to strengthen the accountability and responsibility of the institution.

Modernization of public services is also the main focus, including the implementation of online SIM and SKCK services, electronic ticketing, and technology-based complaint channels.

This effort is considered to make it easier for the public to access Polri services while reducing the practice of irregularities in the field.

In addition, internal strengthening is carried out through the Reflection on the Values of the Bhayangkara Knight which is led directly by the National Police Chief. This tradition is intended to strengthen the moral commitment and integrity of Polri members.

In the field of law enforcement, the National Police recorded a major achievement in eradicating drugs throughout 2025 by uncovering 49,306 cases, arresting 65,572 suspects, and confiscating more than 214 tons of various types of narcotics.

This achievement is seen as proof of the seriousness of the Police in eradicating crimes that threaten public security.

For these various efforts, the National Police Chief received the award Implementation of Public Services and Security Synergy at the 2025 detikcom Awards.

Herry added that the concept of society politics which is now echoed by the National Police Chief is the driving force for cultural change within the National Police, which is to place the community as a strategic partner in maintaining security and order. This approach, according to him, is able to strengthen emotional relations and trust between the Police and the community.

"We hope that the National Police under the leadership of General Listyo Sigit can continue to be a more professional, modern, and humanist institution. Public trust must be maintained through better service and integrity," said Herry.

He is optimistic that the improvement in the performance of the National Police will have a broad impact on the creation of a safer, peaceful and prosperous Indonesia.
