Can Hold Tidore Sultanate Indigenous Title, Menbud Alludes To North Maluku Film And Culture Economy

TIDORE - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon received the honorary title of the Sultanate of Tidore 'Ngofa Bangsa Nyili Gulu-gulu' in a series of cultural visits in North Maluku. The title was directly pinned by Sultan Tidore Husain Syah while visiting the Sultanate of Tidore.

The title became a symbol of acceptance of the sultanate and the bond of brotherhood to the Minister of Culture.

Fadli was welcomed in the Great Welcoming Process, including the wearing of Tidore traditional clothing, before reviewing the collection of Kedatons that hold heirlooms, traditional clothing, royal artifacts, and important historical manuscripts regarding the journey of the Tidore Sultanate.

He considered the wealth of this collection to be the foundation for strengthening museums and cultural centers in North Maluku.

In his remarks on the acceptance of the title, Fadli expressed his gratitude and affirmed his closeness to Tidore, including his visit in 2017 and 2025 to the grave of Tuan Guru Tidore in Cape Town. He supports the proposal of the Tuan Guru as a National Hero because of his strong track record in South Africa.

Fadli then explained the commitment of the Ministry of Culture to strengthen cultural infrastructure through collaboration between the government, private sector, philanthropy, and CSR. More than 50 national cultural facilities have been improved. He emphasized that museums, palaces, and cultural parks can be a source of cultural economy, historical tourism, to Regional Original Revenue (PAD).

"Government is the capital of the future. The cultural industry and creative industry will grow when the ecosystem is alive," he said on Thursday, November 27.

The Minister of Culture also offered a number of programs for North Maluku. These include the Media Art Communication Forum, New Media Art, traditional music festivals, to film development. He assessed that films can become a medium of cultural diplomacy because they contain music, dance, culinary, and fashion. Fadli hopes that a film will be born about the history of North Maluku, including the figure of Tuan Guru Tidore and the journey of the Sultanate of Tidore.

Present at the procession were North Maluku Governor Sherly Tjoanda Laos, Maluku Provincial Secretary Samsuddin A. Kadir, Sultan Tidore Husain Syah, and Tidore Mayor Muhammad Monday. Also accompanying the Minister of Education and Culture, Special Staff Rachmanda Primayuda, Director of History and Summary Agus Mulyana, and Head of the XXI Winarto Region Cultural Preservation Center.

Closing the visit, Fadli expressed his appreciation and congratulated the awarding of the 35th National Hero Title to Sultan Tidore, Sultan Zainal Abidin Shah.
