Riau Police Seize 28.3 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine From 2 Couriers In Pekanbaru

The Directorate of Narcotics and Illegal Drugs of the Riau Regional Police confiscated 28.3 kilograms of methamphetamine in 27 packages from two couriers with the initials RF (31) and HR (30) in the arrests in Pekanbaru City.

Director of the Narcotics Directorate of the Riau Police, Kombes Putu Yudha Prawira, said the arrests took place dramatically on Sunday night (9/11).

This disclosure follows up on public reports of vehicles suspected of carrying methamphetamine from cross-provincial networks.

"Following up on the report, the Sub-Directorate I team led by Kompol Yogie Pramagita then conducted an investigation and succeeded in identifying the vehicles used by the two perpetrators," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, November 27.

Initially, the target, namely RF and HR, was seen crossing the Parit Indah area, Pekanbaru driving a minibus. When they were about to be secured, the two tried to escape before they were finally intercepted.

From the results of the search, evidence of methamphetamine was found by officers neatly arranged in the middle seat of the vehicle. Both, it is known that they are not new players and RF and HR admit that they have sent large amounts of drugs three times.

Last August, both of them brought 70 kg, followed by 20 kg in October. For this delivery, each of them is promised a salary of up to Rp. 8 million per kilogram," explained Putu.

It is suspected that the two couriers were controlled by prisoners from inside the correctional facility. Currently, the team is still investigating and developing the network.

"We are also conducting an investigation regarding the alleged money laundering crime (TPPU) related to the circulation of this narcotics. Based on the confession, the methamphetamine is planned to be brought to the RF rented house before it is further distributed," said Putu.
