The LRT Jakarta Velodrome-Manggarai Route Will Connect KRL Station To Make It Easy For Passengers To Move Mode

JAKARTA - The construction of the 1B phase of the Jakarta LRT has reached 80.57 percent. It is targeted that in August 2026 the integrated highway train route Velodrome-Pemangarai will be operational. During the construction, access to the Jakarta LRT Station in Manggarai will be connected to the Manggarai KRL Commuter Line Station.

The Project Director of the Jakarta LRT Phase 1B, Ramdani Akbar, said that the connectivity line was prepared so that intermodal displacements would be easier for passengers accessing the center area of the movement of electric rail trains.

"Later, including within the scope of the Jakarta 1B LRT project, from the Jakarta Manggarai LRT station, we will connect the connectivity line directly to the KRL station in Manggarai," Ramdani told reporters, Thursday, November 27.

This connection will allow passengers who disembark at Manggarai Station to move to LRT Jakarta with more concise access, and vice versa. This effort is also part of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's big target to strengthen the integration of public transportation.

"So how can every Jakarta LRT station we build as much as possible integrate with other modes of transportation," said Ramdani.

He said the integration also includes Transjakarta, KRL commuter line, to airport trains that pass in Manggarai. According to him, Manggarai is projected as a central node so that connecting LRT services is considered important in expanding the reach of citizen mobility.

Furthermore, based on the study, phase 1B services are projected to attract 60,000 to 80,000 passengers per day after the occupancy increases gradually.

But of course there will be a gradual increase. So it is impossible day 1 suddenly jumps. There will definitely be a process, it will take time, which later on, the occupancy based on our study can reach 60,000 to 80,000 per day with this service," explained Ramdani.

Regarding the operation of the light train fleet, the Jakarta LRT will still operate the existing train series. New additions will be considered if the project is expanded.

"For 1B until August 2026, we are still using an existing fleet," said Ramdani.

It is known that the 1B phase Jakarta LRT has a 6.4 kilometer long track span which has 5 stations, namely Rawamangun Youth Station, BPKP Scout Station, Matraman Station, and Manggarai Station.

So far, as many as 6 LRT stations have operated with a length of 5.2 kilometers in phase 1, namely Pegangsaan Dua, North Boulevard Station, South Boulevard Station, Pulomas Station, Equestrian Station, and Velodrome Station.

The 1B phase of the Jakarta LRT project costs around Rp. 5.3 trillion, which includes consultant costs, licensing, and construction. If phase 1B has been built, the Jakarta LRT has a route length of 12.2 kilometers with 11 stations ranging from Pegangsaan Dua Station to Manggarai Station.
