NUNUKAN - Nunukan District Attorney (Kejari), North Kalimantan (Kaltara), destroyed dozens of evidence of criminal acts that had permanent legal force.
The destruction in the courtyard of the Nunukan Kejari office involved elements of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) and a number of officials from the Nunukan Regency Government (Pemkab) on Monday, November 24.
The head of the Nunukan District Attorney's Office (Kajari), Burhanuddin, revealed that the evidence that was destroyed was the result of handling cases from January to October 2025. This destruction is also the seriousness of the Prosecutor's Office in handling evidence, as well as strengthening collaboration between agencies in maintaining the security of border areas.
"This evidence comes from various cases, ranging from drugs, illegal fertilizers, to economic and financial crimes," said Burhanuddin.
He explained that the details of the destruction of the evidence were 80 drug cases with a total weight of 55.165 grams, 510 sacks of illegal fertilizer weighing 25.5 tons and 18 other cases of the financial economy.
"The destruction process is carried out using a different method, for drugs to be dissolved into the water before being thrown into a ditch, while illegal fertilizers are symbolically buried in four sacks and the rest will be destroyed at the Final Processing Site (TPA)," he explained.
Burhanuddin admitted that narcotics cases still dominate in Nunukan, reaching 75 percent of the total cases.
"Therefore, we will continue to demand maximum punishment for the perpetrators," said Burhanuddin.
"This is a deterrent effect. We want to ensure that law enforcement really has an impact," he continued.
The man who has just served in the Nunukan Kejari also appealed to the public not to buy illegal fertilizers from Malaysia. In addition, his party will also take firm action in smuggling imported used clothes.
This destruction is proof that the prosecutor maintains public trust in transparency. The Prosecutor's Office is committed to presenting clean, upright and useful law enforcement," he said.
