JOMBANG - Presiden Prabowo Subianto membagikan sebanyak 100 becak listrik kepada penguh becak yang sudah lansia) di Kabupaten Jombang, Jawa Timur, sebagai upaya membantu agar mereka tetap berdiri.

Deputy Chairman of the National Solidarity Movement Foundation (GSN), Nanik Sudaryati Deyang said the electric rickshaw distributed was assistance sourced from President Prabowo Subianto's personal funds.

"This electric rickshaw is the President's personal assistance. This is not only now, but he has been helping since early 2024. It has been distributed 517, then Pak Prabowo ordered another," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 24.

He said President Prabowo ordered 1,000 units of electricity rickshaws from PT LEN and 10,000 units of PT Pindad. In total, since 2024-2025, 2,303 units of electric rickshaws have been distributed to residents, especially the elderly throughout Indonesia. While the rest are still in the manufacturing process.

According to Nanik, the President is sad to see that there are still many rickshaw makers and the majority are elderly. For this reason, the President took the initiative to make electric rickshaws and distribute them to them, so that they can be more empowered and prosperous.

"Why not give capital?. Not everyone has a trading spirit, even those whose lives are peddlers are 30 years old, 40 years old. He (President Prabowo Subianto) is sad that they are old, not even rickshaws themselves, but rents Rp. 5,000 a day. If he can't pedal, he has a debt of Rp. 5,000," he said.

He said the price of the President's assistance rickshaw was per unit of IDR 22 million. This price is more expensive than 2024, which is still around IDR 15 million.

Therefore, he hopes that the President's assistance will really be utilized and not be sold again. "We hope this can relieve the elderly, and of course it will attract passengers' interest, because sooner in which the suspension is good, more comfortable," he said. Regarding treatment, Nanik said that there were already technicians who were trained. They can be called 24 hours and are ready to fix it if there is a problem with electric rickshaws. In fact, when improvements are also free of charge or free.

He hopes that regional heads, the local police will support this electric rickshaw, including by providing convenience for lanes, so that electric rickshaws can pass through the route according to the direction of the local government.

Meanwhile, Deputy Regent of Jombang Salmanudin thanked President Prabowo for the assistance provided to pempuh pecak in Jombang.

He said the electricity rickshaw assistance came from President Prabowo Subianto's personal funds, as a form of commitment to improve the welfare of the underprivileged.

"This is a form of commitment to improve the welfare of the underprivileged. For rickshaw brothers who are elderly and have difficulty pedaling manual rickshaws," he said.

His party is also coordinating with relevant regional apparatus organizations (OPD) to provide easy lanes for pedicab rioters.

The district government, said the Deputy Regent, welcomed the assistance of these 100 units of electric rickshaws and hoped that they would be useful for the recipients.

"Hopefully it will make it easier for pembuat pedicak to work, save energy and can increase family income," said the Deputy Regent.

Meanwhile, one of the recipients of the electric rickshaw, Sukardi from Mojokrakpak Village, Tembelang District, Jombang Regency, said he was happy to receive this electric rickshaw assistance.

"I'm very happy to get a gift from the President. Alhamdulillah, and it's good again (the interest). Hopefully it can increase income," said the man who daily attracts the pedicab at Legi Market in Jombang.
