JAKARTA - European leaders who are dissatisfied with Washington's proposal for a settlement in Ukraine are preparing a counter-made proposal.

This news was reported by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on Friday, November 21 citing trusted sources.

According to the newspaper, European officials are trying to persuade Ukraine to support their plans, which are considered to offer more favorable requirements for Kiev.

Europe hopes to finalize the plan in a few days, but Ukraine has yet to state a commitment to follow suit, the WSJ said.

As reported by ANTARA, on Wednesday (19/11), Axios reported Washington had held a secret consultation with Moscow to formulate a new peace plan to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The Financial Times newspaper reports that the US peace plan, which consists of 28 points, includes a reduction in US military aid, official canonical recognition of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, granting Russian state status in Ukraine, reducing Ukrainian armed forces, and banning foreign troops and long-range weapons in Ukrainian territory.

According to Axios, the plan assumes the US and other countries recognize Crimea and Donbas as Russia's legitimate territory.

On Friday, Axios reported the US was also submitting another draft agreement to Kiev, which stated the possibility of an attack on Ukraine would be "considered an attack that threatens the peace and security of the transatlantic community."

The agreement will reportedly take effect over the first 10 years and requires signatures from Ukraine, the US, the European Union, NATO, and Russia.
