Malang Health Office Finds Nitrit On MBG Menu Causes Mual Students

The Malang District Health Office (Dinkes) revealed that the results of laboratory tests on the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) sample contained nitrits, triggering nausea in students and two teachers at one of the Tsanawiyah Madrasahs in the area some time ago.

Head of the Malang District Health Office, Wiyanto Wijoyo, said that based on the results of laboratory tests, nitrit content was found in the tofu menu in the MBG menu.

"The laboratory results have a little nitrit compound on the tofu menu. If someone can't stand it, then nausea," said Wiyanto, quoted by Antara, Friday, November 21.

The discovery of nitrit in food, said Wiyanto, could be due to the selection of raw materials that are not careful or can be done either, because the storage process is not good.

"Because there are a large number, as if you know it's a lot of them, maybe some of them are rotten. It's okay for healthy people, but if you're not healthy, you can get nauseous," he said.

This finding is also the result of a follow-up to the investigation process carried out by the Malang Regency Government (Pemkab) after reports of sick students and teachers after eating MBG dishes, on Thursday, November 23.

Wiyanto conveyed the findings were not only nitrits, but ecoli bacteria. That can be due to contamination from the water used during the raw material washing process.

"Then, there is a little ecoli maybe from the water, but not from the water, usually from the water," he said.

His party will immediately follow up on these findings by carrying out coaching for food suppliers in each Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG).

Wiyanto explained that the mechanism for fostering food suppliers includes training and certification for food serving officers, so that the qualifications are to ensure security when processing raw materials to be used as the MBG menu.

"Professional intentions will definitely result in good results. If you are not professional, you can't do that because it's a large number, thousands of portions," he said.
