JAKARTA - The Pekanbaru City Environment and Hygiene Service (DLHK) in Riau Province has given strict sanctions to the Sialang Rampai Village Waste Management Agency (LPS), Kulim District, after being caught disposing of garbage on empty land.

Acting (Plt) Head of Pekanbaru City DLHK Reza Aulia Putra said the LPS management received a Warning Letter (SP) 1 from his party. The LPS was proven to dispose of garbage in empty land on Jalan 70, Tenayan Raya District, on Sunday, November 16 yesterday.

"We immediately gave SP1. We immediately followed up after the incident," he said in Pekanbaru, Tuesday, as reported by Antara.

He said that DLHK as the LPS supervisor immediately gave directions and warnings to the LPS because their actions were not in accordance with the correct procedures.

As a result of his search, the LPS manager was determined to dispose of garbage on the vacant land because he wanted to catch up on time to be able to transport garbage at the mass mutual cooperation location.

"Although their intentions are good, namely transiting garbage, lack of communication and transparency can cause misunderstandings and negative impacts on the environment," said Reza.

He also reminded LPS not to repeat the action. DLHK does not hesitate to give strict sanctions in the form of revocation of the LPS operational permit if a similar incident is found.

"Hopefully the LPS can improve the process and become an example for other LPS," said Reza.

Previously, a viral Tik Tok video of members of the Riau Regional Representative Council (Dapil) Pekanbaru City, Ginda Burnama, was viral. He asked Pekanbaru City Government to impose strict sanctions on the LPS.
