DPR Filters Seven Candidates For Agggota Judicial Commission From Former Judges To Academics

JAKARTA - Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) of the Republic of Indonesia has started a series of fit and proper tests for candidates for the Judicial Commission (KY) for the 2025 '2030 term on Monday, November 17. The names of these seven candidates were proposed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.

The chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Habiburokhman, in a Hearing Meeting (RDP) with the Selection Committee (Pansel) at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, stated that the series of due diligence began with a paper writing session.

"At 11 o'clock, we will draw serial numbers and make papers," said Habiburokhman when opening the RDP, quoted from ANTARA, Monday.

Seven Names Proposed By The President

The proposal for the seven names of KY candidates is contained in the President's letter dated October 22, 2025. This process is carried out in connection with the end of the term of office of KY members for the 2020-2025 period on December 21.

The seven names of candidates proposed by President Prabowo Subianto represent various elements, namely former judges F. Willem Saija and Setyawan Hartono, legal practitioners Anita Kadir and Desmihardi, legal academics Andi Muhammad Asrun and Abdul Chair Ramadhan, as well as community leaders, Abhan.

Strict Selection Process Of 236 Participants

The chairman of the Pansel for KY Candidates, Dhana Putra, explained that the selection was carried out objectively, transparently, and accountably. The previous panel opened registration on June 23, 2025 and received 236 participants.

The selection process was rigorous, with the stages of passing the 176 participants Administration, the quality selection of 166 candidates who attended, profile assessments netted 42 names and interviews and Health Tests: Release 21 names.

Based on a series of selections involving input from NGOs, academics, and the public, the seven best names were chosen to be proposed to the DPR in order to undergo the final stage, namely a fit and proper test at Commission III.
