Minister Of Home Affairs Tito Encourages Regional Heads To Focus On Performance For Public Trust

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian encourages regional heads and local governments (Pemda) to compete to improve performance in order to achieve public trust.

Tito assessed that positive performance achievements would open up opportunities for an area to win awards, which could boost the popularity and electability of regional heads. In the end, it can be an important capital to win back regional head elections (pilkada).

"If we are given an award by the media, Mr. and Mrs. (regional heads) do not need to socialize with the media, because they will definitely increase their electability and popularity. Try later in 2028 it will immediately skyrocket and be re-elected," Tito said in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday, November 16.

Tito said that the regional head award event initiated by the media could spur the competition climate between regional heads, so that it was motivated to mobilize all capabilities to carry out the best regional programs.

He also added that regional heads who have not won any awards should not be discouraged. He emphasized that regional heads should be motivated to do their best performance for their respective regions.

On a separate occasion, the Director of the Indonesia Political Review (IPR) Iwan Setiawan is of the view that the direction of the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, so that local governments and regional heads are motivated to work optimally, even if they can win awards, is an encouragement so that local governments and blood heads work harder for their communities.

In addition to giving electability blessings, the positive impact of the optimal performance of local governments and regional heads will be enjoyed directly by the people in the regions.

"With local governments improving performance, the benefits will be felt directly by the people in the regions, regarding development, progress and welfare," said Iwan in Jakarta, Sunday.

Iwan assessed that Tito's direction was not an empty message, because the political pattern in the regions showed that the regional heads who excel would be desired again by their people for the second period.

However, local governments and regional heads must also focus more on the aspirations and wills of the community in carrying out development in the regions, and not just pursuing awards from an institution.

"Because a regional head who excels extraordinary is the one who gets the heart and high appreciation from his people for his hard work and achievements in building and advancing his area," he said.
