The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) collected data on flood and abrasion victims that hit several urban villages in Mataram City in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), due to heavy rains on Wednesday, November 12.

Acting Head of BPBD Mataram City Akhmad Muzaki said several sub-districts were affected by flooding due to tidal waves, including Abian Body, Egalik, and Bintaro.

"Flooding in Abian Basin Village was triggered by the overflow of the Ancar River, and the burst irrigation canal," he said in Mataram, Thursday, was confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the flood occurred at around 16.00 WITA due to moderate to heavy rain upstream of the Ancar River. The river flow rose to residential areas with a water level of about 50 centimeters.

Temporary data, the number of victims in the Kekalik Village is about 30 families (KK), while in Abian Village the body is around 20 families.

"Meanwhile, in Bintaro Village, we are still waiting for data from the village," he said.

He said that today the team was going down to collect data on affected residents, to ensure their condition and emergency needs.

Emergency assistance that has been distributed by BPBD includes sacks for emergency embankments in broken irrigation canals and funeral assistance.

"Meanwhile, for other needs, we are still data and waiting for other data from the village and sub-district," he said.

He appealed to the public to increase awareness of potential hydrometeorological disasters that can occur anytime and anywhere.

"The so-called disaster cannot be predicted, although we have made efforts long ago and are rare in anticipation," he said.

Muzaki hopes that the commitment of village and sub-district officials to increase vigilance will actively go to the field to carry out disaster mitigation efforts.

"For example, cleaning channels and rivers from garbage that can block the flow of water during heavy rains, as well as other prevention efforts," he said.

He said that by looking at the potential for disasters at this time, Mataram City is still on standby.

"If an escalation occurs, we will immediately close it to raise the status to an emergency response," he said.
