Basarnas Evacuation Of Ship Passengers Run Aground In Gilimanuk

Bali Basarnas managed to evacuate all personnel on board the KMP Cemerlang 55 ship that ran aground in the waters of Gilimanuk Port.

"At 17.15 WITA all passengers were successfully evacuated to Gilimanuk Pier and all of them were safe," said Head of the Bali Basarnas Office I Nyoman Sidakarya, Wednesday, November 12.

Initially, the roll-roll off or roro passenger ship carrying people and the vehicle ran aground around the waters of Gilimanuk Port at 15.25 WITA.

From Basarnas Bali data, KMP Cemerlang 55 Ketapang-Gilimanuk routes ran aground at a distance of 1.81 Nm from the Gilimanuk Harbor pier, namely the coordinates of LKP 8 deg 7'50.04"S - 114 deg26'19.62"E.

"The information we got was that the ship carrying 69 people departed from Ketapang Port at 14.30 WITA," said Sidakarya.

However, reports of the incident that happened to KMP Cemerlang 55 only reached the National Army Base from the Gilimanuk Navy at 15.40 WITA.

"Of the total number of personnel on board, 13 crew members were recorded, three followers, and 53 passengers," he said.

Following up on the report, Basarnas Bali dispatched nine personnel from the Jembrana Search and Rescue Post to Gilimanuk Port.

After half an hour of travel, the SAR team arrived at Gilimanuk Harbor and immediately mobilized Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) 01 Gilimanuk to look for passengers.

"There have been several defense equipment deployed including one Tanjung Rening KP unit (Polair Jembrana Police); one unit of RIB Brimob Company C Gilimanuk, and KP V 49 Syahbandar Gilimanuk Port," said Sidakarya.

Luckily, the evacuation process took place with only light rain conditions so that personnel on board could be evacuated within an hour along with vehicles transported by ships.

Nyoman Sidakarya said that in this rescue, joint SAR elements involved in SAR operations other than his party were the Gilimanuk Navy, Polair Polda Bali, Polair Jembrana Police, Brimob Company C Gilimanuk, Syahbandar Gilimanuk Port, and ASDP Gilimanuk Port.
