JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Jakarta Province has proposed standardization or certification of skills for Quran teachers, madrasa teachers, Friday preachers, and mosque imams.
This proposal was welcomed by the Chairman of the Jakarta Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), Khoirudin. Khoirudin believes this step is crucial for improving the quality of education and religious guidance in the capital.
"I really appreciate the idea regarding the importance of standardizing the skills of Quran teachers and preachers. This is a concrete step to improve the quality of religious education in Jakarta," said Khoirudin on Wednesday, November 12.
Khoirudin explained that improving the quality of religious personnel not only impacts the quality of learning but also fosters the moral and spiritual development of the community.
Therefore, he believes that religious education providers at the community level must have measurable skills.
"If we want to educate the community, those who implement them must have measurable skills and clear budget support," Khoirudin explained.
Khoirudin emphasized that the Jakarta DPRD is ready to encourage the provincial government to provide adequate funding so that the certification program can be implemented effectively.
"We need partners like the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) to implement this program (certification). I will discuss it with the Governor later so that budget support can be realized," said Khoirudin.
Previously, the Jakarta MUI proposed the idea of certification for Quran teachers and preachers during a hearing with the Interfaith Harmony Forum (FKUB) in the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) Speaker's meeting room on Friday, November 7.
Jakarta MUI Chairman KH. Muhammad Faiz Syukron Makmun believes that certification is part of sustainable human resource development in the religious sector.
"Developing the soul of the people is no less important than physical development. The two must go hand in hand," said Faiz.
