More Than 3,000 Flood-affected Residents In Pandeglang, 8 Teundak Villages

JAKARTA - More than 3,000 flood-affected residents have submerged eight villages in Pandeglang Regency, Banten. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that flooding occurred due to high-intensity rain since Wednesday, October 5, which caused the tributaries of the Ciliman River to overflow and inundate residential areas.

Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center Abdul Muhari said the water level at a number of points ranged from 30 to 80 centimeters.

"BPBD together with sub-district and village officials have conducted rapid assessments in the field, distributed initial logistics, and ensured that the affected residents still get basic needs," said Abdul in Jakarta, Antara, Friday, November 7.

BNPB recorded four sub-districts affected by the flood, namely Angsana, Cikeusik, Sobang, and Panimbang, with a total of eight submerged villages: Angsana District: Cikayas Village, Sumurmen, and Pada Mulya, Cikeusik District: Curugciung Village and Sumur, Sobang District: Bojen Village, Panimbang District: Gombong and Mekarsari Villages

As of Thursday (6/11) afternoon, flooding in several locations was reported to have not subsided. A total of 885 families (KK) or around 3,181 people were affected, including two educational facilities and one main road access that could not be passed by vehicles.

"While further data collection is still being carried out in the field," said Abdul.

He added that the weather in the affected areas was still raining moderate intensity. Joint teams from BPBD, TNI/Polri, Tagana, and community volunteers continue to evacuate and distribute emergency assistance.

The urgent needs that have been distributed include tarpaulins, blankets, mats, medicines, and emergency response logistics packages for residents who are severely affected.

“Kami mengimbau masyarakat agar tetap waspada terhadap potensi hujan lebat susulan, serta menjaga kebersihan saluran air dan lingkungan untuk mengurangi risiko banjir berulang,” ujar Abdul Muhari.

"We urge the public to remain alert to the potential for heavy aftershocks, as well as to maintain the cleanliness of waterways and the environment to reduce the risk of repeated flooding," said Abdul Muhari.
